Delete your account
You can close your WineDNA account and remove your data at any time — from inside the app, or from here.
From the app (fastest)
Apple requires an account deletion path inside the app itself, and that is the quickest route because you are already signed in.
- Open WineDNA and go to Profile.
- Tap Account, then Delete account.
- Read the summary of what will be removed.
- Confirm. We send a confirmation email to the address on the account.
- Confirm from that email within 7 days. If you change your mind, do nothing and the request expires.
From this website
If you cannot get into the app — a lost device, for example — you can ask us directly.
- Email [TODO: privacy contact email] from the address on your account, with "Delete my account" as the subject.
- We verify that the request comes from the account owner. We may ask a question only the owner could answer; we will not ask for more identification than we need.
- We confirm in writing when the deletion is complete.
Email a deletion requestOpens your email app. Send from the address on your account.
A signed-in, self-service deletion form will replace this step once web accounts go live. Until then, the email route and the in-app route are the two supported paths.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in identities, including the link to Sign in with Apple.
- Every rating and tasting note you have written.
- Your Taste DNA, including all six taste axes and their confidence values.
- Your cellar, wishlist and browsing history.
- AI sommelier conversations.
- Photos you uploaded — label scans and photos attached to ratings.
- Your notification device tokens and any scheduled reminders.
- Your email address and language settings.
What we keep, and why
A short list, because the law requires it or because deleting it would harm someone else.
- Billing and tax records — retained for the statutory accounting period. [TODO: statutory retention period for billing records]
- Moderation records where you reported someone or were reported — kept for 12 months after the case closes, so that repeat abuse can be detected. The record is reduced to the minimum needed.
- Aggregated, anonymised statistics that can no longer be linked back to you. These are not personal data.
- Security logs — 90 days.
Timing and reversibility
- Your account is deactivated immediately on confirmation. You are signed out on every device.
- There is a 30-day grace period during which we can restore the account if you tell us it was a mistake.
- After 30 days the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone by us or by you.
- Encrypted backups roll off within 35 days, after which the last copies are gone.
Your subscription
Deleting your WineDNA account does not cancel an active App Store subscription and does not trigger a refund. Cancel it separately in your Apple ID subscription settings before you delete, otherwise Apple will keep billing you.
Consider exporting first
Deletion is final. If you want to keep your ratings and Taste DNA, export them from the app before you start — the export is a machine-readable file you can keep.
